Beijing Tiantan Hospital

The Beijing Tiantan Hospital of the Capital Medical University was founded on August 23, 1956. It is one of the leading centers for neuroscience in Asia, combining clinical practice, research and training. The Beijing Tiantan Hospital hosts the National Clinical Medical Research Center for Neurological Diseases, the National Medical Quality Control Center for Neurological Diseases, the National Practice Skills Examination Base for Physician Qualification Examination, the National Cerebrovascular Disease Prevention and Control Office, the WHO Neuroscience Training Cooperation Center, the Beijing Neurosurgery Institute, and the Fifth Clinical School of the Capital Medical University.

Beijing Tiantan Hospital

In the 67 years since its establishment, the hospital has produced a number of extinguished neuroscientists, such as the academicians Wang Yongcheng and Zhao Jizong as well as Professor Dai Jianping and Professor Wang Yongjun. At present, the hospital hosts three National Key Disciplines and five National Clinical Key Specialties, including neurosurgery and neurology, which are consistently ranked first since 2017 in the Science and Technology Evaluation Metrics (STEM) for Chinese hospitals. The hospital hosts one academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, two Beijing scholars, one participant of the young Changjiang scholars program of the Ministry of Education, three participants of the Ten Thousand Talents Program, one participant from the National Hundred Million Talents Program, etc. It has been awarded the highest National Science and Technology Progress Award, one first prize and four second prizes of the National Science and Technology Progress Award. It is approved for 15 doctoral programs and 25 master programs with 70 doctoral supervisors and 142 master's supervisors.

Beijing Tiantan Hospital

In December 2013, construction of the new Beijing Tiantian Hospital campus began. After a full trial run in October 2018, the new campus was officially put into operation on January 30, 2019, making it the first large tertiary hospital in Beijing to be relocated completely since the founding of the country. The new hospital is located on No.119 South Fourth Ring West Road, Fengtai District, covering a total area of 181,581 square meters with a total construction area of 352,294 meters. The campus is divided into three functional areas for medical treatment, administration, research, cadre health care as well as teaching. The hospital is home to 67 clinical departments and eight medical technology departments. It has 1,650 beds and 3,210 employees.
